Space has become a contested domain, essential to communications, navigation, intelligence, and defense, and increasingly vulnerable to attack. As commercial space and military activity expand, competition and the risk of conflict in orbit are rising. This hub follows the strategic dimension of space: space security and the protection of satellites, anti-satellite and counterspace threats, the role of commercial space in defense, and space governance for an increasingly crowded domain. Commercial space companies now provide much of the launch and imagery capacity militaries rely on. Strong space governance will decide whether orbit stays stable as more actors arrive. Fellows and analysts assess counterspace threats to satellites and how democracies can secure their space assets.
