Rob McGillis is a former fellow with the Transatlantic Defense and Security Program at the Center for European Policy Analysis (CEPA).

McGillis brings extensive experience in international affairs and technology policy from his tenure in Global Affairs Strategy & Operations at Google, where he played a pivotal role in multiple initiatives promoting responsible innovation, including the establishment of the Frontier Model Forum. He has worked closely with think tanks, diplomatic missions, and international organizations to advance dialogue on critical technology and innovation policy issues.

His prior experience includes political and security risk analysis at GardaWorld, where he authored numerous reports on geopolitical developments across Europe, the Middle East, and North Africa. He also served at the U.S. Department of Homeland Security’s Office of Policy, where he facilitated interagency cooperation on national security matters. In 2022, he organized assistance for Ukrainian refugees in Poland and coordinated the transfer of medical supplies to the front lines of the conflict.

McGillis holds a Master of Arts in International Political Economy and Strategic Studies from the Johns Hopkins School of Advanced International Studies (SAIS) and a Bachelor of Arts in Economics, Romance Languages, and Middle Eastern Studies from New York University.

A dual American/Italian citizen, he is proficient in multiple languages, including Spanish, French, Italian, and Arabic.
