Mikhail Komin is a research fellow at the Center for European Policy Analysis (CEPA).

In 2023-2024, he was a visiting fellow with the Wider Europe programme at the European Council on Foreign Relations (ECFR). He worked as an editor at the exiled Russian independent media Novaya Gazeta Europe.

Before the Russian full-scale invasion of Ukraine, Mikhail worked at several Moscow-based think-tanks. In 2016-2018, he contributed to a project on a new socio-economic strategy for Russia at the Center for Strategic Research (CSR). In 2019, he was a research director at the Center for Advanced Governance (CAG), a think-tank conducting research on Russian economic, social, and digital policies and advocating for good governance, transparency, and open data.

Mikhail's research interests include: Russian government and bureaucracy, Russian civil society, and the policy-making process in non-democratic contexts.

Mikhail holds a postgraduate degree in political science from the Higher School of Economics, St. Petersburg. Also, he was a member of the Survey Russian Elites advisory board (2018-2022) at Hamilton College in the US.
